Barker Elementary School about why WAGS is important to the community
This morning I got the AWESOME opportunity to speak to the 5th & 6th graders at Barker Elementary School about why WAGS is important to the community (this school and its residents are right next door to Westminster) and why the City of Westminster should not only choose WAGS as its Animal Care Services vendor for the next 3-5 years, but also that they should pause the RFP process until the turmoil within city council has diminished. These kids are all writing persuasive letters as part of their curriculum, so what better topic than their local animal shelter! They had FANTASTIC, thoughtful questions and it was so cool to walk into the 1st classroom and have 1/2 of the room yell WAGS! Some of them had adopted and others had joined in for a cookie class or had come in to read to the cats on the weekends. They may not be Westminster or Stanton residents, but most of them have ties to our shelter and love it as much as we do & want to see it continue the work that we do. If you’d like me to come out and speak to the students at your school about any animal related topic, please email me at Cortney@wagspetadoption.org. WAGS is a COMMUNITY centered animal shelter & we love reaching out to our future adopters and animal owners! Thank you Barker Elementary for a great morning of discussion with your fantastic kids! ~Cortney #wagspetadoption #helpushelpthem #shelterlife #community #cityofwestminster #westminsterca #westminstercityhall #westminsterpolicedepartment #teachthechildren #communityoutreach
