The future of Wags

So…we all came to the realization last night that we will not be continuing the Westminster contract to provide the city’s animal control with shelter services. Our contract for this year ends June 30th, and after that the city will be taking their strays and unwanted pets wherever they decide to contract with. WAGS Pet Adoption WILL CONTINUE! We’ve decided to change our focus to finding a building just for WAGS, we will not be providing sheltering services for animal control. This means that we will be able to take unwanted pets from any city and be able to rescue from any shelter that needs our help. The lease that we have with our current building isn’t up until November 1st, which gives us a lot more time to find the perfect building for our next chapter. Having that November date takes a lot of the pressure off of us having to find a building in 12 days. Don’t get me wrong, we still need to find something soon because we will need to build out our new space, but it doesn’t need to be in 2 weeks. Please understand that the WAGS pets are safe and will always be. Whatever we end up with on June 30th when the contract ends is safe and is in ZERO danger of being euthanized…that’s NOT what we do here. We will continue to place the pets in our care wherever we end up. When WAGS started, we decided to provide excellent care to unwanted and stray animals, and we will continue to do so.
