First of all, I want to thank EVERYONE who helped out this year! Macaila, Brandy, Lisa, Amanda, Amelia, Ashley, Josh, John, Liz, Annette, Nancy, Maria, Christina, Cecile, Marlyn, Jessica, Tammy, Stephan, Connor, Eric, & Crystal. This was our BEST year of adoptions yet! Not only in quantity, but also in outcome. We’ve never ( at least in the last 3 years… I was too tired to look further than that), adopted out 41 pets at Expo. We have also never left with so few dogs. We have only five adoptable dogs in the shelter… And none of them are small! We have never ever been able to say that! We have a handful of dogs on property that are working their way towards becoming adoptable in our behavioral rehab program, and a couple of new intakes, but to only have five dogs available for adoption is absolutely crazy to think about! I have to admit that there were a few people tonight in our group that shed a few tears, myself included. We were exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed by what we had accomplished in 3 days. The fact that we were able to adopt out so many dogs to loving new homes is awesome! But it also makes us so sad to see the remaining 5 and wonder why they weren’t chosen. Again thank you to all who helped out, and thank you to all of the adopters who made this such a fantastic weekend. I know that the cages and runs will not stay empty for long, but for now we’re going to enjoy it and work even harder to get our remaining dogs into the right homes for them.
